Featured Pathway: Adult to Pediatric Acute Care at OMC

Ready to bring your bedside experience to the youngest patients who need it most? This pathway helps experienced RNs transition from adult care into pediatric nursing at Ochsner Medical Center (OMC), our flagship campus and the No. 1 hospital in Louisiana for 14 consecutive years, according to U.S. News & World Report.

This pathway is built for registered nurses who are ready for their next challenge. You are a strong fit if you have:
- 12 to 18 or more months of inpatient experience in Med-Surg or Stepdown
- A passion for caring for children and their families
- A drive to grow into advanced pediatric specialties
This is more than a job change. It is a structured transition designed to set you up for long-term success.
- Cohort-based onboarding: Start alongside a dedicated group of nurses making the same transition, so you learn and grow together
- Expert specialty support: Build pediatric skills with guidance from experienced clinicians and mentors who invest in your development
- A full-time, permanent role: Step into a stable position with a clear place on the team from day one
- Clear progression: Open the door to advanced pediatric specialties, including the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
